On Thursday night, the Cedar Ridge men’s soccer team won its third straight game, routing Person 8-1 at Red Wolves Stadium. Freshman Edwin Hernandez-Huerta and junior Issac Anderson each scored two goals as the Red Wolves improved to 4-7. They moved up to 2nd place in the Central Carolina Conference with a 3-1 record. This is the Red Wolves’ longest winning streak since 2018, when they defeated Hunt, Bartlett Yancey and Southern Alamance. Cedar Ridge is fighting to return to the 3A State Playoffs for the first time since 2016, when they finished 2nd in the Big 8 Conference. Hernandez-Huerta has five goals thus far in his freshman season. Anderson, who had a gorgeous header off a corner in the final ten minutes for the final goal against the Rockets, had scored three goals this season for the Red Wolves. Cedar Ridge will look to continue the fight for the postseason when they travel to Williams on Monday night. The Bulldogs were the 3A State Champions in 2019. Cedar Ridge will travel to Person on Monday, October 4.
